Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a divorce in Georgia if my spouse doesn't want one?
Yes. You can file a contested divorce. An experienced Georgia divorce attorney will manage the litigation process in local courts to secure your fair settlement on assets and custody.
What's a standard parenting plan for Forsyth County?
A Georgia parenting plan details legal and physical custody, including a visitation schedule and decision-making rules. Our Forsyth County child custody lawyers create plans focused on your child’s best interest and stability.
Can child support be modified if I lose my job in Alpharetta?
Yes. Job loss is a substantial change. File a petition in court to modify the order based on new income. An Alpharetta family law attorney ensures proper filing and enforcement protection.
What is a QDRO and why do I need it for my 401(k) in an Alpharetta divorce?
A QDRO is a court order required to divide a 401(k) or pension in a divorce. Without it, you face heavy penalties. Our attorneys ensure your QDRO requirements are properly addressed in your settlement agreement, then coordinate with a QDRO specialist to draft the order for court approval.
How do I get an emergency protective order in Gwinnett County?
File a petition at the Gwinnett County courthouse. A judge can issue a Temporary Protective Order (TPO) the same day if there’s immediate danger. A lawyer ensures a strong case for the hearing.
